Dumbarton UMC 250th Anniversary!
2022 is Dumbarton’s Big 250 Year Celebration as a gathered group of faithful Methodists in Georgetown, Washington, DC.
Dumbarton United Methodist Church is pleased to be celebrating its 250th birthday in 2022 as the oldest continuous Methodist congregation in Washington DC, and one of the oldest in the nation. The year will be filled with events calling on the church to be “Looking Backward But Living Forward.”
Please join us for the following celebratory events:
- October 15-16: Homecoming Celebration! Singing the “Dumbarton Hymn” by Rev. Dr. Phil Wogaman
- November 6: All Saints Day Worship Service. Dramatic reading of the names of our “cloud of witnesses” (prominent figures in Dumbarton history) and choir performance of AJ Welch’s composition inspired by the historic stained glass windows
- November 15: Veterans History Day featuring the names on the WWII brass plaque.
- December 24: Dumbarton UMC 250th Anniversary! Outdoor time capsule burial.
