NEW! S3P Research Grants
To advance safety in spine surgery, S3P funds physician-initiated research studies with the goal of finding new and innovative approaches to improve patient care and safety. As many as two grants are given out annually at a maximum of $10,000 each.
Grant Dates & Deadlines
- Two (2) grants will be awarded annually with a maximum value of $10,000 each. The project durations can vary from 1 year to 2 years.

Submit your abstract, paper, or project for an opportunity to present from the podium and win the Best Paper Award of $500!
Abstract submissions for the Safety Summit do not need to be formal papers, but rather should present any project that made a difference in spine surgery quality, safety, or value. Submission welcome in any area of spine surgery safety, including:
- Neuro safety
- Infection
- AVB
- Enabling Technology
- Host Optimization
- Systems, Culture, Etc.

Early-Career Surgeon Grants
Residents, fellows, and surgeons within their first 3 years of practice are invited to apply for an educational grant to attend the Safety Summit.
Grant Recipients will receive complimentary course registration plus $500 in reimbursement of travel expenses.
- Open to MDs and DOs practicing in the United States only.
- Recipients will receive complimentary course registration plus $500 in reimbursement of travel expenses.
- Grant recipients may be required to attend a Young Surgeon event the evening of Thursday, May 29 for their reimbursement to be processed.
- Grants will be awarded based on seniority and institutional diversity. Priority will be given to abstract presenters.
